The official music video for "Safe & Sound" by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars - the first single on The Hunger Games Soundtrack - debuted this evening on MTV. I admit that I was curious to see what kind of footage from the film made it into the music video, but I was surprised (not necessarily in a bad way) that there is no footage whatsoever. Though, the mockingjay pin does make an appearance.
Even without clips from the film, the video captures the beautifully haunting and dreary feel of the song, which I can easily imagine in a couple of key scenes from the book - the cave scene? Maybe even the part at the end when Katniss is preparing to eat the berries? If you have no idea what I'm talking about then allow me to take this moment to recommend The Hunger Games to you.

The latest single that has been released is "One Engine" by The Decemberists:

I thought Jennifer Lawrence would be on the soundtrack but I guess we'll be hearing her on the score of the film instead.

The soundtrack will be available on March 20, just three days before the movie hits theaters.
I missed this premiere. Very haunting.
ReplyDeletehaunting indeed. :)
DeleteI'm one of those gals that avoids movie clips because I like being surprised but I LOVED seeing the list of songs. I can't wait to see how Miranda's song is worked in. She's one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI feel ya - after a certain point I stay away from leaked images.
DeleteMiranda Lambert is one of those artists I almost feel I know personally because I have family who know her... well, knew her before she was famous, so I've gotten a lot of those kind of stories.
I'm interested to see which songs make it into the movie.
I would have liked to have seen some scenes from the movie in it, but I still liked it. I wonder how many of these songs will actually make it into the movie.
ReplyDeleteI love this song and can't wait to hear the other ones on the soundtrack. I couldn't watch the video you posted but I did end up watching it on youtube and its so good.
