A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host'

MTV News recently had an opportunity to visit the set of Andrew Niccol's adaption of Stephenie Meyer's The Host and, of course, they posted a quick peek of the set.

The video is embedded below and is less than two minutes long; but it still gives an exclusive look at the caves and a stunt that marks a scene you may remember from the book.

I always thought that The Host would make a great television series because there's a lot going on in this book. Plus, the characters are so complex - it would be nice if everything had a chance to develop properly on screen. It makes me feel a little better knowing that they're not going to try to cram Stephenie Meyer's 600+ page novel into one film, though I am curious how they plan on breaking up the novel for three.

The Host is aiming for a March 2013 release date.

Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed. When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

  1. Pretty cool. The sets look extensive! I really need to get to this book. Its been sitting on my shelf for a couple months now waiting to be read. It will be interesting to see how they break this book up into three parts and I really need to read it to see if three parts is even necessary.
